Chicken Breakfast Sausage Patties

About This Recipe

Homemade chicken breakfast sausage patties with ground chicken, spices, and a touch of maple syrup. They are so delicious, easy to make, and so much better than store-bought! Enjoy them for an easy breakfast side.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken ((I suggest using ground chicken and not chicken breast, as chicken breast is too lean))
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Make sausages. Add ground chicken, spices, salt, and pepper to a medium-large bowl. Using your hands, mix to combine.
  2. Form sausage patties. Form mixture into 9 equal-sized patties (about 1.75 ounces each), making sure to flatten them out and put a little thumb-sized indent in the middle so they don’t puff up when you cook them. If needed, you can press them down with a spatula when cooking to help flatten them out. The mixture will be sticky; if needed, wet your hands with a little water when forming patties.
  3. Cook. Heat up a large nonstick skillet or cast iron over medium heat, add oil, and let it get hot. Add sausage patties in a single layer and cook for 3-5 minutes, flip, and cook for another 2-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. You may have to cook in two batches depending on how big your pan is.
  4. Enjoy! Serve with your favorite breakfast items and enjoy!
