About This Recipe

All you need is 2 ingredients and 15 minutes to make these homemade high protein Cottage Cheese Bagels! Air fryer or oven friendly.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Cottage Cheese
Full, reduced, or fat free all work
  • 0.5 cup Self Rising Flour
Reduce to 6 tablespoons (45g) if adding optional protein powder
  • 0.5 scoop Protein Powder
    Unflavored; optional
  • 1 whole Egg
    Beaten, for brushing
  • None to taste Everything Seasoning
    Or other topping of choice

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together. (Don't like the texture of cottage cheese? Blend or process it prior to mixing it.)
  2. The 'dough' should be shapeable without being too sticky. Too sticky? Add a little more flour. Falling apart? Add a little more cottage cheese.
  3. Break the dough into 2 pieces and roll each piece around until you get a 'rope'.
  4. Loop your rope around until it shapes a bagel and press the ends together. Having some flour on your hands while doing this can help.
  5. Coat the top of your bagels with either some cooking spray or brush them with a beaten egg.
  6. Air Fryer Method: Coat your basket with cooking spray. Place your bagels into your basket. Cook on 320F/160C for around 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Oven Method: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place your bagels onto it. Bake at 375F/190C for around 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

💡 Notes & Tips

  • Macros shown are per bagel with fat free cottage cheese + optional unflavored protein powder. If you don't have self rising flour, make your own with 2 cups (240g) all purpose flour + 3 teaspoons (12g) baking powder + 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt. Bagel topping ideas: everything, sesame or poppy seeds, seasoning blends, dried minced onion or garlic, grated cheeses, cinnamon sugar. Store in the fridge 3-4 days or freeze sliced up to 3 months; toast after thawing.
